Lives: Dunedin
I got into Skeleton racing in 2004, after sustaining a knee injury while playing provincial level rugby. I still had a competitive fire burning inside but really needed to find a straight-line sport! As well as training for five months abroad on the competitive Skeleton circuit, for the last few years I have also been juggling part-time work (as a physical conditioning coach) and study towards a Graduate Diploma. Life is full!
Approach to training and nutrition: In my sport a good power to weight ratio is critical for an explosive sprint at the start of each race. So staying lean is important and I do this by following a balanced diet with minimal indulgence. During the off-season I can afford to bulk-up my lean muscle mass a little to cope with a heavier resistance training load and the likelihood that I will lose size once I start racing. Fueling my body and mind with the right energy is high priority to ensure I'm always able to give 100% effort whatever the situation, and then recover fully afterwards.

Tionette has dedicated herself to training full-time in 2009. She is working towards a podium finish at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, in February 2010.
On her way to the games Tionette aims to become the fastest starter on the 2009-10 World Cup Skeleton circuit and to improve her world ranking via consistently high performance throughout the season (in the Northern Hemisphere winter).

Fav Product:
ICE WHEY
Reason:
This is my fav product because it contains the highest protein and lowest carb content of any protein powder on the market. It's ideal to mix into breakfast cereals, post-training shakes and other cooked meals to increase total portein content in my diet (particularly when I'm on the road competing overseas). Unlike many other protein powders it actually blends to deliver a rich creamy taste.
Other: Carb Less Protein bars - Secretly I'm a chocoholic so these bars mean I can have a guilt-free chocolate flavour fix at the same time as getting the all-important protein hit immediately post-training to ensure that I reap the benefits of my heavy resistance workouts.
Replace Recovery - Sprint training in a cold environment doesn't always mean you feel thirsty. The taste of Replace Recovery encourages me to stay hydrated and the unique mix of carbs and portein ensure I maximise glycogen replenishment and promote muscle tissue repair (following training) all in one hit.
