Biggest achievement so far and why: Winning the Silver Medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. It was the realisation of a goal that I first had when I was six years old, watching the Opening Ceremony of the 1982 Commonwealth Games. It's also a pay off for the 15 years that I have been involved in Race Walking and the thousands of kilometres and hours upon hours of training I have done during that time.
I have been competing in Athletics since I was five, but didn't take up Race Walking until the 1991-1992 season. I took up Race Walking after being issued a challenge by a friend of mine, who had taken up the sport the year before. I was then encouraged to continue by my coach Graham Seatter.
Approach to training and nutrition: Good nutrition and hydration are the the key to being able to train and recover properly.
Other notes of interest: At the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne 2006, I was the first and only New Zealander to beat Craig Barrett over the 50km Walk. In doing so I also became the second New Zealander to walk under four hours for the event (3:58:05).

Fav Product:
REPLACE HYDRATION
Reason:
I use Replace Hydration because it's the best tasting Sports Drink I've tried. I don't get sick of the taste of Replace Hydration even after drinking 4.5 litres in just under four hours. I also find that when using Replace Hydration, I don't get the gastric upsets I used to get from other brands.
Sports FuelI use Sports Fuel after my long reps session and my long walks, (35km in three hours and 40km in three and a half hours). I find that after drinking Sports Fuel, I recover better and faster from these sessions.
